Morning? It's 2am but "Good Morning" is too much of a getting out of bed type statement rather than an about to go to bed type. Less than two lines in and I'm already waffling, proof that I can't really think of what to write here? Might explain that I haven't updated this blog in nearly a year.
Nevertheless, an update. It's winter again (November being the nastiest, wettest, coldest month of them all) and the old winter blues is setting in, which I see as a good thing. After spending the warmer months flicking between western genre animation, feature screenwriting and developing a graphic novel, none of which I finished, Shell of Light has reminded me that it exists and really needs to move forward.
Sadly the promise of "2012/13" at the end of the teaser will not be fulfilled but to prove that it's still in development, I present some concept art that demonstrates potential new art and animation styles for the film:

Protagonist Adam, based on Burial's Untrue album cover

Protagonist Amy, ultimately the driving force behind the city's redemption

New character Cassel, whose artwork is scattered across the city
![]() |
New character Faye, a young woman with an eye for engineering

One
of Cassel's many artworks, scattered around the city. I won't deny that
this particular throw-up is plagiarised from a PS2 I'm rather fond of.

So yes, things are developing. Slowly. Very, very slowly. But with any luck I can redraft the script soon, get it out there and think about the concept of moving forward with this project.
Also, I now run steelbands in the north-east - the thing that's been taking up most of my time.
